Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club – Dubai, UAE

Morning Sunrise over the first tee

Dubai Creek Golf Club first opened in 1993 and since its debut has become a staple for those coming to Dubai for a golfing holiday. Managed by “Dubai Golf” the same company who also oversees Emirates Golf Club, the club derives its name from the saltwater creek that splits the city into two main sections.

The course offers patrons spectacular views of the creek and marina while playing the course and is unique since it provides golfers with a large amount of water obstacles for a course located in Dubai, a typical desert golf setting.

Playing the signature 17th hole - Great View!

One of the best features of Dubai Creek is its playability. A relatively short course at only 6700 yards from the championship tees. The course is the perfect environment for all types of golfers. Ladies, juniors, families, and even exceptional golfers will all find the course an enjoyable experience. The greens, and fairways are in fantastic condition and every hole is well designed and straightforward. From a golf professional’s perspective it’s a fun course to play with no big surprises, there are a lot of birdie opportunities and enjoyable experience.

Throughout its history Dubai Creek has hosted numerous tournaments including the famous Dubai Desert Classic tournament in 1999 and 2000. By far one of the most interesting facts about the golf club is its clubhouse. Designed to represent the traditional Arab dhow (sailboat), the clubhouse pays homage to Dubai’s great history of seafaring traditions. The clubhouse has become such an icon in the UAE that its innovative architectural design has been featured on the currency.

A 20 Dirham note featuring Dubai Creek’s clubhouse, this may be the only golf clubhouse in the world to be featured on a nation’s currency!

My favorite hole was the 181-yard par three 5th hole. A beautiful par 3 bordering the Dubai Creek, the hole offers golfers a perfect view of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest man-made structure.

Located in the heart of the city, close to the airport and directly next to the Park Hyatt hotel, Dubai Creek is also a great location to base yourself if coming to Dubai for a golfing holiday. The service levels and experience of the course are world-class and this course is a must play when coming to Dubai.
